Products
Mendoza is the first Argentine
exporter of wine products and, together with USA,
Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, it is listed
in the group known as the New World Wines.
Today, more than 100 countries enjoy the quality of
Argentine wines, which means a total export sales
value of USD 160 million at an outstanding annual
growth rate of 15%.
Likewise, Argentina is the main exporter
of grape juice concentrate in the world, Mendoza being
the main national producer.
As regards processed food, Mendoza’s
export offer stands out, specially naming fruit preserves
(including peaches, pears, cherries and fruit cocktail),
vegetable preserves (including tomatoes, asparagus,
pickles and olives), dried fruit (including prunes,
raisings, apricots and pears), specialty food, jellies
and marmalades and confectionery.
Refined and virgin olive oil production and export
are also very important, since the combination of
Mendoza soil and climate allows for the best results
in the quality of this product in Argentina.
As far as fresh fruit and vegetables are concerned,
every year, world leading markets receive garlic (Mendoza
is the first producer in Argentina) and top-quality
onions, pears, apples, plums, cherries, peaches, nectarines
and apricots, grapes and melons, to mention the most
important products, all of which may be found as certified
organic products.
Referring to organic food, local
exporters have attained certification through all
the regulatory procedures for good agricultural practices
and traceability required by the most demanding markets
in the world, which means another significant competitive
advantage.
In the area of industrial products,
the provincial metal-mechanic sector is very dynamic
on account of the manufacture of machinery and equipment
mainly used in the food and oil industry. IMPSA, an
important multinational company which supplies dock
cranes and power plants, has its headquarters in Mendoza.
The furniture industry export offer
is also renowned by the quality, design and price
of its products
Other industrial products that complete
the provincial export offer include glass and plastic
packaging, packing, graphics, textile and leather
goods.
Besides, one of the most important
software factories in Argentina, a company consortium
which counts on highly trained professionals, is located
in Mendoza.
Destinations
Quality and price make products from Mendoza required
by more than 130 different international markets.
The main export destinations are MERCOSUR, NAFTA,
the European Union and other trade blocs in Latin
America and Asia.
