The major share corresponds to oil exploitation, followed by metal-mechanics.

Local companies are involved in heavy metallurgy as successful bidders of large infrastructure works using their own technologies and foreign licenses, building turbines for hydraulic generators, valves, cranes, pipes, metal structures etc.
In the area of light metallurgic industry, production is oriented to machines to break up products, cold storage equipment, devices for the production of food and drinks, and tools for agricultural and chemical activity.

The metal-mechanic industry in Mendoza features some peculiarities as a result of gained experience in the region, the markets it supplies and the Argentine economic ups and downs.
